Rumor Central: Tottenham reportedly put Clint Dempsey up for sale | THE SIDELINE

Clint Dempsey reacts to scoring his first goal for Tottenham

Clint Dempsey may be looking for a new club for the second summer in a row, if reports from England are to be believed.

The Times is identified as the apparent source of the news and ESPN commentator Ian Darke also confirmed "reports" about Dempsey's transfer-listing.

Dempsey's first season at Tottenham Hotspur was either a nice success or a huge disappointment, depending on whom you ask. The 30-year old American forward/midfielder scored 12 goals in all competitions for Spurs, but was never given a regular starter's role on the team and was played in a multitude of positions throughout the season.

Dempsey's move from Fulham to Spurs last summer was reportedly in the region of $9 million, but it's unlikely the figure would be in the same range this time around.

Meanwhile, as his current Tottenham teammates have reported for early preseason preparations, it doesn't look as if Dempsey is among them. That could simply be down to the fact he only just finished his season three weeks ago with the national team's World Cup summer qualifying campaign.

Oh well, more time to fish.
