American Exports: Diskerud to get extension at Rosenborg

Mix Diskerud celebrates his first Rosenborg goal

AMSTERDAM – Rosenborg are preparing to offer winter free agent Mikkel Diskerud a long-term contract extension, MLSsoccer.com has learned.

The US midfielder (above, right) arrived at the Lerkendaal this past summer from Stabæk, signing a six-month deal. Sources indicated that Rosenborg plan to invite Diskerud to the negotiating table within the next couple of weeks.

The Troll Kids stand four points off the top in third place with two matches remaining on the Tippeligaen season, but remain active in the Europa League group stage. Their final Group K game is a Dec. 6 visit to Bayer Levekusen, just 26 days before Diskerud runs out of contract.

The 22-year-old has starred for Rosenborg since arriving, striking for one goal in nine league games and another from his four Europa league outings. Diskerud is currently the third-highest rated Tippeligaen player according to leading Norwegian daily VG.

The No. 42 shirt is expected to take his usual place in Rosenborg's midfield when they visit Europa League foe Metalist Kharkiv on Wednesday.
