SKC's Peterson tops Nyarko in final GOTW voting

Sporting KC's Jacob Peterson

Jacob Peterson got his chance, and he took it. And the voters have rewarded him.

The Sporting Kansas City midfielder’s opening goal against the Philadelphia Union on Oct. 24 earned 34 percent of the vote, good enough to top a goal from Chicago Fire speedster Patrick Nyarko and win the AT&T Goal of the Week for Week 33.

Peterson – who came off the bench in place of injured starter Paulo Nagamura in SKC’s victorious season finale – latched onto a cross from Kei Kamara after a swift buildup through the Kansas City midfield.

Nyarko finished with 26.8 percent of the vote. CLICK HERE for all of this year's winners.
