San Jose's Chris Wondolowski hits #27, ties MLS single-season goalscoring record

Chris Wondolowski and the Quakes celebrate his 27th goal

San Jose' Chris Wondolowski tied Roy Lassiter's 16-year-old record for most goals in a single season in MLS with his 27th strike of the year. He calmly put away a penalty kick in the first half against the Portland Timbers.

In the second half, he had a few decent chances to break the record, including a header at the far post that went inches wide and a diagonal shot that was barely beaten away by goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts, but the final whistle came before he could get number 28.
