Galaxy's Keane takes Player of the Month award for July

Galaxy striker Robbie Keane scored his ninth goal of the season vs. Chivas USA

Who said there'd be any Euro hangover for LA Galaxy forward Robbie Keane?

After the Republic of Ireland went three-and-out during the 2012 European Championship in June, some wondered whether it'd take a while for him to get back in the swing. That was not the case after a monster month of July earned him the latest Player of the Month award as voted by the North American Soccer Reporters (see the voting results here).

The MLS Cup champions came to life in July with a 4-1-1 record, in large part thanks to Keane's five goals and four assists. He had at least a goal or an assist in five of the Galaxy's six matches during the month.

The Irish Designated Player came through big time, scoring a brace in two road wins over Chicago (July 8) and Portland (July 14) and assisting on the lone goal in their most recent win at FC Dallas (July 28).

The 32-year-old, who has since been partnered with Landon Donovan at forward, also added a goal and an assist in a 3-1 victory over Chivas USA and currently has a total of nine goals and six helpers in 17 matches this season.

Keane edged out RSL's Álvaro Saborío, who had six goals in July, and Houston's Brad Davis (six assists) and Tally Hall (one goal conceded in six matches) were also in the running.
