Sapong's sliding volley nets AT&T Goal of the Week

CJ Sapong

MLS defenders take heed: C.J. Sapongis good — and he keeps getting better.

The reigning MLS Rookie of the Year added another honor to his resume after fans voted his clinical volley just five minutes into the match against San Jose as the AT&T Goal of the Week for Week 12.
Some sublime build-up led to Graham Zusi finding Kei Kamara on the right side of the pitch. Kamara then whipped in a perfect cross to the back edge of the six-yard box which found a streaking Sapong and gave Sporting KC the early advantage.

The award is the first of the US national team prospect's young MLS career. Sapong now has four goals through 11 games after scoring five in 34 appearances last season.

Montreal's Patrice Bernier held onto second place, narrowly edging out Chivas USA's Juan Pablo Ángel and Chicago's Sebastián Grazzini.
