American Exports: Hoffenheim's Williams done for year

Hoffenheim's Danny Williams

AMSTERDAM — Hoffenheim midfielder Daniel Williams is done for the season after picking up a shoulder injury during Tuesday's weight training session.

The southerners have just two games remaining on their Bundesliga slate, while the US international is expected to spend as many as six weeks on the shelf. Williams ends his first Hoffenheim campaign with 22 starts in 28 appearances across all competitions.

"It happened in the gym during a training session," Hoffenheim press officer Marcell Kamm told MLSsoccer.com. "He will be out for 4-6 weeks."

The 23-year-old Karlsruhe, Germany, native seems unlikely to be fit for late May US national team friendlies against Scotland and Brazil. With some fortune in recovery, Williams could more realistically aim to be available to coach Jurgen Klinsmann when the USMNT open 2014 World Cup qualifying against Antigua and Barbuda on June 8.
