FC Dallas' Ferreira goes full 90 in 1-1 tie vs. BK Hacken

ORLANDO, Fla. – David Ferreira is back.

The 2010 MLS MVP surprisingly went a full 90 minutes on Saturday night in a 1-1 tie against Swedish side BK Häcken, only his second match since fracturing his ankle in a league match back in April 2011.

Last Wednesday, Ferreira played a total of 22 minutes in a 2-1 loss to the US Under-23 national team.

The Colombian’s presence lifted FC Dallas, which buzzed like the team of old. The MLS side dominated possession and eventually took the lead in first-half stoppage time when right winger Fabián Castillo collected a Zach Loyd cross at the top of the six-yard box and fired a diagonal shot inside the far post.

The match proved a more even affair in the second half with few chances on either end. On one of those, BK Häcken got the equalizer with 10 minutes remaining.

A short clearance by FCD second-half substitute Andrew Wiedeman allowed Häcken left back Kari Arkivuo to whip in a cross from the left side which central defender Mattias Ó¦stberg headed home in the center of the area.

FC Dallas nearly got a 90th-minute winner on a flying scissors kick in the box by Loyd but the BK Häcken goalkeeper stopped the effort low at the right post.

FCD manager Schellas Hyndman opted to have the majority of his players go a full 90 with the reserve players likely to feature in a match against the US Under-20s on tap for Sunday afternoon.
