Wondolowski easily wins AT&T Goal of the Week

Chris Wondolowski of the San Jose Earthquakes

The weather may be getting colder, but for the second year in a row, Chris Wondolowski is heating up in October.

His two goals against the New England Revolution gave the San Jose Earthquakes the win against the New England Revolution and vaulted him into a tie for the Golden Boot lead. But it was his first goal that turned heads, and his effort has been awarded AT&T Goal of the Week for Week 30.

A long, flighted ball by goalkeeper David Bingham travelled three quarters of the field to find Wondo in stride, but the striker did superbly to control the ball with one touch, and with another touch the ball was traveling past diving Revs 'keeper Bobby Shuttleworth and inside the far post for his 13th goal of the season.

Wondolowski took the honors with 41 percent of the vote, and earned an astonishing 74 percent of text votes submitted. Nizar Khalfan's long-range strike against Real Salt Lake came in a distant second with 24 percent.
