Revs holding Fagundez Fathead contest in home finale

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Diego Fagundez hadn't taken any stick from his New England teammates earlier this week, but he knew they would probably chime in over the next couple of days.

With the Revolution set to hold a contest to give away a custom Fathead in his likeness at Saturday night's home finale against Columbus (7:30 pm ET, watch LIVE online), the 16-year-old forward figured his teammates likely couldn't resist a jab or two in his direction.

“I don't think anyone knows about it,” Fagundez told MLSsoccer.com on Wednesday morning. “I just saw it. It might [change]. I'm sure they'll be saying it's taller than [me].”

A little bit of good-natured ribbing about the size of the wall graphic (78 inches tall to Fagundez's listed height of 68 inches) comes with the territory, but Fagundez said he enjoyed the idea and liked that any participant in the contest would have to show up to Gillette Stadium on Saturday with a familiar hairstyle to have a chance to take it home.

“Definitely [cool], especially because it's a competition about who [has] the best mohawk,” Fagundez said.

Although Fagundez knows a thing or two about that particular hairstyle, he said he planned to let the judges decide the winner of the contest. After all, he plans to spend his Saturday night on the field.

The Home Grown player hopes to send the Revolution fans away for the winter with a victory over the playoff-chasing Crew, but he did offer a bit of advice about his own mohawk criteria to the fans who plan to enter the contest to win his Fathead.

“I have to see if every hair is perfect, nothing is to the side and you can't see the middle of my head,” Fagundez said. “It's all the way from the front to the back if it's perfect.”
