Goal of the Matchday

Seattle's Montero claims AT&T Goal of the Week

Fredy Montero had a brace against Vancouver

If there's anyone who has enjoyed the Cascadia Cup rivalries this year, it's Seattle Sounders forward Fredy Montero.

The 24-year-old Colombian, who punished the Portland Timbers earlier this season, netted a stunning 64th minute game-winner aginst Vancouver last Saturday night which earned the AT&T Goal of the Week award with 52 percent of the vote. It was his first of two goals in three minutes on the night.

In a show of skill and precision, Montero collected a poor clearance by a Whitecaps defender near the top of the box and then used a nifty back heel move to evade another opponent before depositing the ball into the top left corner.

Seattle's Designated Player becomes the sixth Sounder to claim Goal of the Week honors and it's his second personal award after taking the cake in Week 14.
