American Exports: Edu opens Scottish league season

AMSTERDAM — Another American opened season in Europe on Saturday, with Maurice Edu and defending Scottish Premier League champs Rangers forced to rally for a 1-1 home share with Hearts.


Over in Denmark's SAS Liga, Clarence Goodson and Brøndby bagged their first win of the term by a 1-0 count at Silkeborg thanks to Jan Kristiansen's last-gasp winner.


Russian Premier League action saw Eugene Starikov work 66 solid minutes as Tom Tomsk prevailed 3-1 at Kuban Krasnodar to halt a six-game league win drought.


In Swedish Allsvenskan play, Mjallby attacker Samuel Petrone pitched in a tidy quarter hour to cap a 5-1 victory over Gefle that ended the home side's three-game losing streak.
