Union deal left back Harvey to Whitecaps

Toronto-Philadelphia: Jordan Harvey

The Philadelphia Union dealt left back Jordan Harvey to the Vancouver Whitecaps on Thursday in exchange for allocation money. Harvey, a Union original, has played 16 games for Philadelphia this season, all of them as a starter. Per team and league policy, terms of the trade were not disclosed.

Harvey was selected by the Union in the 2009 Expansion Draft from the Colorado Rapids. Since joining the team, Harvey has played in 46 games, starting all but one and notching a goal and two assists.

The left back joins a Vancouver team that has struggled in its first season. The Whitecaps have compiled a 2-9-8 record this season and suffered a disappointing loss to rivals Toronto FC on July 2 in the Nutrilite Canadian Championship final. The Whitecaps play their next match on Saturday away to the Colorado Rapids.
