MLS fines Red Bulls for publicly criticizing league officials

Erik Soler confirmed that NYRB is pursuing a third DP signing which has more than a 50-50 chance

NEW YORK — MLS Commissioner Don Garber today fined Red Bull New York $10,000 for public criticism of League officials in a statement by Erik Soler on Monday.


“The statement released by Red Bull New York this week undermines our substantial efforts to continue improving all aspects of our competition,” MLS Commissioner Don Garber said.


Fines collected are donated to MLS W.O.R.K.S., Major League Soccer's community outreach initiative dedicated to addressing important social issues affecting young people and serves as a platform for both League and club philanthropic programs. MLS W.O.R.K.S. seeks to establish Major League Soccer as a leader for improving the lives of people through sport.
