MLSsoccer.com fantasy: Three different games

Check out MLSsoccer.com's second fantasy game, Fantasy Challenge

2011 is a landmark year in fantasy soccer. Yes, landmark. That’s not just promotional hyperbole.

I’ve long been a fantasy game fanatic, and here at MLSsoccer.com, we have developed a full suite of fantasy games that are more challenging, more engaging, and, frankly, cooler than anything previously available.

Today, we are launching “MLSsoccer.com Fantasy Challenge,” the only true league-manager game devoted to MLS. This is a full-blown game allowing fans to build leagues, hold drafts, and pick their starting XI in the most realistic way possible.

Fantasy Challenge is just the latest in our fantasy game family. We launched “Pro Soccer Picks,” an easy-to-play prediction game, last fall. Last week, we launched “Salary Cap Challenge,” a totally new and improved version of a comprehensive salary-cap game.

Here’s the lowdown on each game:

MLSsoccer.com's Fantasy Challenge (League Manager) let’s you join a league or create your own league where you’ll participate in a live draft and just like in real life, each player can only be owned by one team.

There is no salary cap, so if you manage to get them in the draft, you could have all the stars that you want.

Each week you’ll match up against another team in the league with the team accumulating the most points getting the win. Control all aspects of your club by picking your starting lineup each week, combing the free agent wire, trading for players, and leading your team to the playoffs. Leagues are customizable so you can create the league how you think it should be run. Want assists to count for the same amount of points as goals? Go ahead, you set the point values.

MLSsoccer.com's Salary Cap Challenge
you test your skills as a general manager by assembling the best squad you can while keeping your team’s salary under the cap.

Players are assigned a value that fluctuates depending on how many people add or drop them from their roster. There are three seasons in Salary Cap Challenge, so you have plenty of chances to win if you don’t get off to a great start. You can play for great MLS prizes like a trip to the 2012 MLS All-Star game or join leagues where the winners earn cash prizes. You can also compete against the experts at Extratime Radio, to do so click here and then enter password "Fantasy" to enter.

Test your knowledge in Pro Soccer Picks, the game in which you predict the results of matches from MLS and other soccer leagues. Try to collect the longest streaks of correct answers or the most correct answers in a particular scoring period. You can create groups to play against your friends while also competing against all other competitors for monthly prizes and the Grand Prize which includes a free MatchDay Live subscription, authentic MLS jersey and more.

I’m going to be playing these games all season, including in an experts league with some of the North American soccer scenes biggest names, like Alexi Lalas, Grant Wahl, Kyle Martino, and Taylor Twellman. Follow along, and I’m pretty sure you’ll learn all you need to know about how to play the games. And how not to.

Feel free to send me any questions you may have on Twitter @JasonETProducer and be sure to follow @MLSFantasy for updates on all of the fantasy games.
