AMSTERDAM — Bolton midfielder Stuart Holden is crossing fingers that he
can overcome a thigh knock in time to host fourth-place Manchester City
on Saturday afternoon.
The 25-year-old was injured in training late last week and was forced to sit
out as sixth-place Wanderers battled derby rivals Blackpool to a 2-2
draw.
"He has a quad strain," a Bolton spokeswoman told MLSsoccer.com on
Tuesday afternoon. "We don't know how soon he'll be back, but he's
hoping to be back for Saturday."
Before this weekend, Holden had started every Premier League match this
season for Bolton. The former Houston Dynamo ace has a goal and an
assist in 14 games, and he has been at or near the top of the league tackle
chart all season.
