American Exports: Edu, Rangers still tops in SPL

AMSTERDAM – Several Americans laced 'em up in Europe on Sunday, with Maurice Edu working a solid shift as Rangers stayed tops in Scotland with a 3-1 win at St. Mirren.


German Bundesliga action saw Hannover 96 blasted 4-0 by table-toppers Borussia Dortmund, with Steve Cherundolo going the route at right back and winger DaMarcus Beasley on for the final 33 for the beaten hosts.


In Belgium, Sacha Kljestan was booked early, but went the distance as second place Anderlecht rallied for a 2-2 draw against visiting rivals Club Brugge.


Over in Spain's La Liga, Jozy Altidore watched from the dugout as Villarreal stayed third with a 4-1 rout of Athletic Bilbao.


In Sweden, Alejandro Bedoya saw yellow as Örebro SK lost 1-0 at Trelleborgs to finish the season in third place.


From closing day in Norway's top flight, Clarence Goodson played all of his final contest for eighth place IK Start in a see-saw 3-3 share with FK Haugesund.


Mikkel Diskerud completed his 29th start of the season as Stabæk ended up 12th with a 1-0 loss at Molde FK.


A flight down, Colin Burns served as back-up 'keeper as Sparta Sarpsborg trounced Alta 4-0 to finish league runners up and take the automatic elevator to the Tippeligaen.
