Whitecaps announce ticket prices for inaugural season

The Vancouver Whitecaps on Thursday announced that Teitur Thordarson will stay on as head coach when the team debuts in MLS in 2011.

VANCOUVER – The Vancouver Whitecaps announced season-ticket prices for their inaugural 2011 Major League Soccer season on Thursday, and season-ticket deposit holders will be contacted throughout the month of November to select their seats.

Seven different seating categories will be offered starting from $319, all the way up to $1,482 for premium seating. Packages include all 17 MLS regular-season home matches, as well as both Nutrilite Canadian Championship games.

Ticket prices start at less than $17 per match.

"The pricing we've announced today offers exceptional value to fans across all seating categories,” Whitecaps FC president Bob Lenarduzzi said.

Fans in Vancouver have been gobbling up tickets at a rapid pace, and management anticipates that fans will provide an atmosphere rivalling any in Major League Soccer.

“2011 will be a very exciting year for our club and our fans,” Lenarduzzi said. “Witnessing a team's inaugural Major League season is truly special, and with more than 15,000 deposits already sold, people will now need to act very quickly to buy their season ticket and ensure they don't miss the chance to be a part of this historic season."

The team will begin next season at Empire Fields before moving into a newly renovated BC Place Stadium. Exactly when they move into their new home remains to be determined. Early projections were for spring of 2011, but recent reports suggest that renovations will be complete next fall.
