D.C. United sign Argentine Pablo Hernandez

D.C. United announced their first signing of the upcoming transfer window on Thursday.

The four-time MLS Cup champs inked 23-year-old Argentine forward Pablo Hernandez on loan from Uruguayan club Defensor Sporting. He is expected to be available beginning on July 15, when the transfer window opens and United plays Seattle at RFK.

DC General Manager Dave Kasper sees the upside in the young Argentine, who has played in the Uruguayan first division in the last two seasons with Racing Club and most recently Defensor Sporting .

ā€œHe is a very technical player with great athletic qualities who makes things happen around the goal,ā€ Kasper said.

He started his career in Argentina with Atletico Tucuman as an 18 year-old and helped the club move up from the third to the second division in 2007-2008.
