Second annual 343 memorial climb comes to Pizza Hut Park

Pizza Hut Park and the FC Dallas Foundation have announced a partnership with the Fallen Heroes Family Support Fund and its annual 343 Memorial Climb. Named in honor of the 343 firefighters who were lost in the World Trade Center disaster on September 11, 2001, the 343 Memorial Climb will feature a stair climb and a firefighter relay race. All of the events will be held inside the stadium prior to the FC Dallas match against Real Salt Lake, which starts at 7:30 p.m. on September 23.

Registration for the 343 Memorial Climb will begin at 8 a.m. at Pizza Hut Park on the day of the event. The stair climb will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude at noon while the firefighter relay goes from 10 a.m. to noon. The American Red Cross will, also be hosting a blood drive in the Platinum parking lot at the Northwest corner of the stadium from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. For more details and a complete schedule of the day's activities, please visit www.343memorialclimb.com.

The day's main event, the stair climb, is open to people of all ages and a donation of any amount is all that is required to participate. This climb should take each person about 45 minutes to complete and they can begin and end at any time during the event. Families with children that do not want to climb can have Children's Courtyard entertain their kids free of charge. The firefighter relay race will feature teams of four firefighters from various cities throughout North Texas.

All donations given to the 343 Memorial Climb or the Fallen Heroes Family Support Fund will benefit the State Fireman's Fire Marshall's Association of Texas, JC Swadley Fund. The fund supports the families of firefighters who have died in the line of duty with services such as grief counseling, bill paying and scholarships.
