Revolution 0, Red Bulls 0 -- quote sheet

NEW YORK RED BULLS 0, NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION 0

NEW YORK RED BULLS HEAD COACH MO JOHNSTON

On the result:
"Our team defended very well. I was a bit disappointed on free kicks, especially right outside the box. We had about four or five of them. We couldn't hit the target."

On the fans:
"The fans would have liked three or four goals. But tonight, that wasn't the case. New England is a very strong unit and they will be up there at the end. And for us, it's a good starting point."

On the Red Bulls offense:
"They were not as sharp as I would have liked them to be. Edson [Buddle] made a good run off of Chris Henderson, which I felt was a very good chance at that time. But tonight we just couldn't finish. Youri [Djorkaeff] was coming underneath and it was leaving Edson up there alone. I wanted more from Amado Guevara tonight."

On Amado Guevara:
"I told him at halftime. There are times in this game when we have to defend. At certain times, he did not do that. When you look at it, you want him on the ball a lot more than what he did tonight. He has not looked as sharp in his last three games, but he is a quality player. You can never discard quality players."

On Marvell Wynne:
"When we picked Marvell, we knew what we were getting. He has grown at his game and is going to cause people problems with his pace. He is very, very hard to get by, as you can see. He is very strong and quick and we are working on certain things in his game that will make him better, like passing and getting balls into the box."

On the Red Bull defense:
"I was very pleased for them and for Tony [Meola]. Obviously he is going away with the national camp to collect his 100th cap. When you have someone like that behind your defense, it is tremendous. The young guys who are in there are learning every day."

On the week's preparation:
"It's been a very long week, certainly for the players and staff and front office. There has been so much going on. The players have done an unbelievable job, in terms of going to all of their commitments, and as coaches, we have to do the same. We are all trying to sell this sport in America and you have to go out there and do that. Hopefully the fans will come back and Red Bull will put on another show this season."

RED BULLS MIDFIELDER CHRIS HENDERSON

On the result:
"From the player's standpoint, every time you have a home game, you want to get three points. Our goal is to win the conference and we have to win games at home. Obviously we are disappointed. We can take pride in not giving up a goal, but have to be disappointed with creating only a few chances."

On his play:
"I had two chances on the wing I do not usually get. We have to take advantage of that and hopefully the fans come out again with the entertainment, but we definitely need to get some points."

RED BULLS GOALKEEPER TONY MEOLA

On the fans:
"We had a great turnout tonight; it was a good soccer atmosphere. This was similar to what it was my first year here in 1996. The game is going to grow and I know it will not be that way every single night, but hopefully the entertainment was enough and we showed spirit in our team, so that they continue to come out."

On the changes in the team:
"Everything that has been done has been completely different than the past. Hopefully that is the direction we continue to go. Red Bull has come in and done a great job. Unfortunately, people do not get to see everything that goes on, but I have been around for a little while and I can tell you that they are doing something that is real special for the league and should be considered a model."

On the week's preparation:
"It has been an exhausting week. I am happy we were able get a point out of this game against a good team and hopefully we can build on that."

On the game:
"We had two chances. There was a one-on-one against Matt Reis, three or four kicks from the top of the box, and there is not much more you can ask for."

RED BULLS CAPTAIN YOURI DJORKAEFF

On the game:
"This is our first game in Giants Stadium. It was a good game. We played on grass and we did not know how it would feel, but we played well. It is a good point because it is against a team that has had success for the last three years."

On the fans:
"Sure, people like when there are a lot of goals, but this was good, quality soccer. I was happy with this game and I am sure people will come back for the next game."

NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION HEAD COACH STEVE NICOL

On the game:
"It feels like a loss. In the first half we should have been out of sight, I thought we were excellent. The possession was excellent in the first half, we created chances and gave them all kinds of problems but we couldn't finish them off. That will come though."
