Pros vs. Amateurs brings event to close

A special Presidents' Day penalty kick competition between Chivas USA players, Sueño MLS participants and aspiring goalkeepers highlighted the fourth and final day of 'Sueño MLS Chivas USA Wants You!' in Bell Gardens, Calif., on Monday.

Tryout goalkeepers Brian Delucchi and Jose Martinez were chosen to face off against Chivas USA defender Lawson Vaughn, rookie midfielder Erasmo Solorzano and newly-acquired forward Maykel Galindo. This fun-filled event ended with many goals and even more smiles as the Sueño MLS players interacted with their favorite stars such as Chivas USA forward Ante Razov, who was on hand to speak to the players and provide moral support.
The legendary head soccer scout for CD Guadalajara and Sueño MLS scout Jaime Pajarito reflected on the weekend as a whole and also looks forward to the next round.

"The level of play is quite good, especially when you consider the ages of these young players," said Pajarito. "From what we saw this weekend, including this last batch of players, we will definitely be able to find our 60."

Wednesday is the day the 2,000 dreamers that participated in this historic event are waiting for as the names of the 60 talented players will be revealed on www.suenomls.com. Forward Jorge Gonzalez of Watsville, Calif., acknowledged that making the cut will be tough, but he still has hope.

"The way I played, I wouldn't expect it, but miracles do happen," said a grinning Gonzalez.
