As D.C. United prepares to wrap up the season that was, fans can have their say in the end-of-season awards by voting online in two categories. Beginning today, fans will be able to vote on dcunited.com for the club's 'Goal of the Year' award and the 'Fans' Choice' award. Both awards will be presented at the United Awards Reception on Oct. 16 at the Galleria at Lafayette Centre. To register for the reception, visit unitedfordc.org.
With the League's most potent offense, and a roster full of skillful, attacking players - such as Christian Gomez, Jaime Moreno and Freddy Adu - it is no surprise some of the League's best goals come from the Black-and-Red. Now, fans can decide which United goal was the best of the best by voting online for the 'Goal of the Year.' Will it be Brian Carroll's screamer against the Crew? Or will Christian Gomez's tremendous lob in Los Angeles take home the award?
The second year-end award that will be determined solely by online voting will be the 'Fans' Choice' honor. This award is exactly what the title claims it to be - the fans' choice. United supporters can pick the player of their choice using whatever criteria they choose - most valuable, most impressive skill, best comeback - it's completely up to the fans. D.C.
