Wizards' Zotinca fined, suspended

NEW YORK - Major League Soccer's Disciplinary Committee announced Friday that Kansas City Wizards defender Alex Zotinca has been issued an additional fine and suspension.


Zotinca, who was shown a red card for a challenge on Chicago Fire defender C.J. Brown on Sept. 1 at Soldier Field, received a one-game suspension and $500 fine in addition to the automatic one-game suspension and $250 fine imposed for the red card. After sitting out his first game due to suspension on Sept. 4 (vs. MetroStars), the Wizards' player will also miss his team's next match against the Colorado Rapids on Sept. 10.


The 24th weekend of the MLS regular season continues with one game on Friday, followed by three games on Saturday. This weekend's schedule follows:
