The San Jose Earthquakes continue preseason training this week at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. After a 1-1 tie with the U.S. Under-20 National Team on Monday, the Quakes play their third exhibition game on Wednesday against the Chicago Fire and then take on the MetroStars on Thursday.

Quakes Open Exhibition Schedule With Tie, Loss


The Earthquakes opened their 2005 preseason exhibition game schedule on Sunday, Feb. 13 with a 1-0 loss to Real Salt Lake at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. Quakes head coach Dominic Kinnear took advantage of the game to spread the playing time around, fielding an entirely different lineup for the first and second half. In the Quakes second exhibition game, the club tied the United States Under-20 National Team 1-1 on a second-half goal from Chris Roner, as Wade Barrett registered the assist. Down 1-0, the Under-20's responded quickly with a goal to tied the game. Again, Kinnear started a completely different lineup in the second half, as a total of 23 players saw action against the Under-20's. The Quakes next preseason game is Wednesday against the Chicago Fire in Bradenton.

Quakes' Remaining Preseason Schedule


The Earthquakes continue to prepare for their season-opening game on Saturday, April 2 at Spartan Stadium. Dominic Kinnear's squad will continue to train in Bradenton, Fla. before departing on Feb. 24. During their time in Bradenton, the Quakes will play Feb. 16 vs. the Chicago Fire, Feb. 17 vs. the MetroStars and Feb. 20 vs. the Kansas City Wizards. The team returns to the Bay Area on Feb. 24 for several more days of training, before heading down to Southern California from March 2 - 9 for training and exhibition games at The Home Depot Center. The Quakes will make their final trek of the preseason to Charleston, South Carolina to play in the Carolina Challenge Cup against the Charleston Battery (USL First Division), D.C. United and the Columbus Crew. The games for the tournament will be played at Blackbaud Stadium, home of the Battery. The team will be in Charleston from March 17 - 26 and kicks off the tournament with a match against D.C. United March 19 at 8:15 p.m. ET. The Quakes next play Columbus March 22 at 6:00 p.m. ET and finish up preseason training with a game against the Battery on March 25 at 6:00 p.m. ET.
Quakes In Camp


As the Earthquakes begin their first full week of training camp in Bradenton, Fla. the practice fields are full with 13 returning players, nine 2005-draft choices, six players acquired via trade or signings and two trialists. 2005 SuperDraft pick Antouman Jallow is now training with the Quakes in Florida, while Stanford product James Twellman is also with the club rehabbing from a torn left ACL injury. Johnny Menyongar, a member of the Liberian National Team, is on trial with the Quakes and appeared in the Quakes first two exhibition matches. Menyongar is a five-year veteran of the A-League's Minnesota Thunder and scored six goals and registered two assists for Minnesota in 2004. The Quakes also have Argentine defender Pablo Paz in camp on trial. Paz joined the Quakes in Florida and played in San Jose's first two exhibition games. The 32-year old was a member of the 1998 Argentina World Cup team and recently played in the Spanish First Division.

2005 Schedule Is Set


The San Jose Earthquakes announced their schedule for the 2005 MLS regular season on Monday, For the first time since 1999, the Quakes open their season in the friendly confines of Spartan Stadium, as they play host to the New England Revolution on Saturday, April 2 at 7:00 p.m. PT. San Jose looks to get off to a hot start with three of the team's first four games at home, as they take on the Revolution, CD Chivas USA (April 9) and the Kansas City Wizards (April 23) in the first month of the season. For the first time since 1999, the Quakes will play a 32-game schedule with 16 road games and 16 home games. The fan-friendly home schedule features 14 Saturday games and just two Wednesday night games. Overall, the team plays 26 of 32 games on Saturdays and 28 of 32 games on weekends. Game times and the national and local television schedules will be released at a later date. The Earthquakes radio broadcast schedules will also be released at a later date.
Season Tickets on Sale Now


San Jose Earthquakes season ticket packages for the 2005 season at Spartan Stadium are now on sale. The Earthquakes 2005 season ticket package features 18 games, including all MLS regular season games and special bonus games. The Quakes season ticket pricing once again consists of a Youth (14 and younger) and a Senior (60 and over) discount in three price levels. Prices for the 2005 season ticket packages are $198 adult ($162 youth/senior) for Endzone, $252 adult ($198 youth/senior) for East Sideline, $450 ($396 youth/senior) for West Sideline and $720 for VIP seats.
