LOS ANGELES GALAXY OPEN 2005 HOME SLATE SATURDAY AGAINST REAL SALT LAKE: The Los Angeles Galaxy (0-1-0, 0 pts) will play their first game at The Home Depot Center in 2005 this Saturday, April 9 against MLS expansion side Real Salt Lake (0-0-1, 1pt). The 7pm (PT) encounter will be the first-ever meeting between the clubs and is being presented by Wells Fargo. The first 10,000 fans through the turnstiles will receive a Galaxy magnetic schedule courtesy of the club's corporate partner. The club is reminding all fans in attendance that they are encouraged to wear Galaxy Gold!


The Galaxy enter their opener after a tough 3-0 loss to the Columbus Crew on the weekend, while Real are coming off a scoreless tie at the MetroStars, with both matches played in inclement weather that hit the Eastern U.S. in recent days. This week's Galaxy Home Opener will be televised live throughout the Southland on FSN West (pre-game show gets underway at 6:30 pm) and will also be available on radio in both English (1540 am KMPC) and Spanish (830 am KMXE).

WEEK OF ACTIVITY THROUGHOUT SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA LEADS UP TO OPENER: The Los Angeles Galaxy will be hosting community-based events throughout the Los Angeles area on each of the remaining days leading to their home opener on Saturday.


They are as follows: Monday, April 4 - Steve Cronin, Ednaldo da Conceicao, Paulo Nagamura and Ugo Ihemelu will be signing autographs and mingling with fans at the Team LA Store located at Universal Citywalk from 6:00-7:30 pm. Galaxy radio partner KMXE will be broadcasting live from outside the store. Tuesday, April 5 - The club will host their annual media game on the stadium field at The Home Depot Center. Following the game, there will be a luncheon at the Stadium Club. Wednesday, April 6 - Galaxy season ticket plan holders are invited to watch the team train in a private session at The Home Depot Center. This annual event has become a tradition for plan holders looking to get an early glimpse at the team. Thursday, April 7 - As a part of "Acts of Kindness Day" Galaxy players and staff will visit children in local hospitals and wards. Friday, April 8 - The club will officially launch the 2005 version of the MLS/NEA Bilingual Literacy Program, Get a Kick of Out Reading!/Lee y Marca un Golazo! at Leapwood Elementary School in Carson with several players reading to the students.


GALAXY RESERVES KICK OFF INAUGURAL SEASON SUNDAY MORNING: The Los Angeles Galaxy reserves will play the first match in their history Sunday morning when the meet the similar side from Real Slat Lake at 10 am (PT) at The Home Depot Center. The reserves will be guided by Galaxy assistant coach Billy McNicol and will be comprised mostly of the developmental players on the Galaxy roster, with additional players called-in on a per-game basis.


CLUB WILL SQUARE OFF WITH PORTLAND TIMBERS IN EXHIBITION IN PORTLAND ON APRIL 13: The Galaxy will make a trip to the Pacific Northwest in mid-April to meet the Portland Timbers (USL First Division) in an exhibition match. The game, slated for 7 pm on Wednesday, April 13 at PGE Park, will be the second-ever meeting between the teams; with the first one won by the Timbers in 2002. It also marks the return to Portland of former Timbers forward Alan Gordon, the reigning A-League (now USL First Division) Rookie of the Year who signed with the Galaxy during the off-season after concluding the 2004 MLS season with them. Tickets go on sale on Tuesday, March 1, and will be available for purchase at area Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at (503) 224-4400 or online at www.ticketmaster.com.


GALAXY INDIVIDUAL TICKETS NOW ON SALE THROUGH THE CLUB, TICKETMASTER: Los Angeles Galaxy individual game tickets are now on sale for the 2005 season. "BEST SEATS IN THE HOUSE" AVAILABLE FOR GALAXY'S FIRST TWO HOME GAMES: The Los Angeles Galaxy are pleased to once again offer fans "The Best Seats in the House" at The Home Depot Center. For the Galaxy's first two home games in 2005 (April 9 vs. Real Salt Lake and April 23 vs. CD Chivas USA), the club will be selling 100 seats along one touchline on a first-come, first-served basis. Each ticket costs $150 per game and includes the actual chair the fan sits in. Did you know ... The last time the Galaxy faced an MLS expansion team for the first time, they suffered a 3-2 shootout loss to the Miami Fusion on July 18, 1998? Mauricio Cienfuegos scored both Galaxy goals in the match, played at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.
