The Los Angeles Galaxy will officially kick off the 2005 MLS regular season on the road against the Columbus Crew on April 2, according to the schedule released today by Major League Soccer. One week later, they will open their third season at The Home Depot Center when the club hosts MLS expansion side Real Salt Lake. Overall, the Galaxy's home regular schedule features fourteen weekend dates (eleven Saturdays and three Sundays). The two remaining home games will be played on Monday (one game - the annual Fourth of July Extravaganza) and Wednesday (one game). Los Angeles will contest a total of 20 games against Western Conference opponents - meaning that the Galaxy will face CD Chivas USA, the Colorado Rapids, FC Dallas, Real Salt Lake and the San Jose Earthquakes four times apiece (twice at home, twice away). As for the clubs in the Eastern Conference, the Galaxy will meet each of them for two games, one at home and the other on the road for a total of 32.
