CARSON, Calif. - Major League Soccer's two expansion sides will do battle this weekend in Carson as Chivas USA (1-13-3, 6 pts) hosts Western Conference rival Real Salt Lake (3-9-4, 13 pts) at The Home Depot Center on Saturday, July 9 at 7:00 p.m. PT. The match, the third in a four-game series between the two teams, will be broadcast live on television stations Fox Sports Net West 2 (English) and HDNet (English), as well as radio station Radiovisa 830 AM (Spanish). It will also be shown tape-delayed on Sunday, July 10 at 11:00 a.m. PT on KAZA Azteca 54 (Spanish). EXPANSION BRAGGING RIGHTS: Saturday's match marks the third-ever meeting between the 2005 MLS expansion teams, with Chivas USA winning the first match with a penalty-kick goal by Héctor Cuadros on May 7 at The Home Depot Center. Real Salt Lake, meanwhile, responded eleven days later with a 2-0 win on goals by Andy Williams and Seth Trembly at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City.


SPECIAL GOLD CUP DISCOUNT: Come support the Mexico and receive a special discount for Chivas USA! This Friday, July 8, The Home Depot Center plays host to a 2005 CONCACAF Gold Cup doubleheader, in which South Africa faces a Mexican National Team featuring Chivas USA's newest player acquisition, forward Juan Pablo García. GUZAN'S STOPS UNSTOPPABLE: On Saturday, Chivas USA fell 1-0 to Eastern Conference leaders the Chicago Fire (10-6-2) on 78th-minute goal by Gonzalo Segares after referee Mark Geiger issued a red card to Chivas USA defender-midfielder Orlando Pérez. Among the highlights of the match was the outstanding play of Chivas USA goalkeeper Brad Guzan, who saved a penalty kick by Fire captain Jesse Marsch in the 69th minute, brining the netminder's PK save total to two of three in his rookie campaign, including two stops in the last four games.


EXPANSION BATTLE, WITH A TWIST: On Sunday, the Chivas USA Reserves (1-5-0, 3 pts) will get their own chance to face their MLS expansion brethren, as they meet the Real Salt Lake Reserves (0-5-1, 1 pt) for the first time during this, the inaugural campaign of the MLS Reserve Division. The match will be held at 10:00 a.m. PT on The Home Depot Center's University Field 1.
