United, Chipotle serving burritos for charity

WASHINGTON, D.C. - D.C. United announced Wednesday that Chipotle Mexican Grill will once again donate proceeds from a restaurant grand opening to benefit United for D.C., the charitable arm of the club. On Thursday, June 17 from 5:30 to 8 p.m., Chipotle will celebrate the grand opening of its newest location, at 14416 Chantilly Crossing Lane in Chantilly, Va. Chipotle burritos and beverages will be available for a $5 entry fee, donated to United for D.C. Signing autographs and eating burritos from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. will be D.C. United midfielders Kevin Ara and Joshua Gros.

"We're excited that Chipotle has chosen to work with us yet again," said Catherine Marquette, executive director of United for D.C. and community & fan relations director for D.C. United. "After our corporate partners, they have been one of our largest contributors. We are thrilled with Chipotle's decision to leverage their popularity in the D.C. area to assist us with achieving our goals."

This event continues Chipotle's commitment to the initiatives of United for D.C. In 2003, the grand opening celebration of the Fair Lakes Chipotle raised over $1,000 for United's charitable arm. Chipotle also sponsored the inaugural Georgetown Senior Week Human Foosball Tournament, raising another $1,000 for the charity's initiatives.

Chipotle Mexican Grill is a leader in the new fast casual dining sector. Since the first restaurant opened in 1993, Chipotle has expanded to more than 36 cities throughout the United States. Restaurants are styled with a hip, urban feel, with no two restaurants alike, and the reasonably priced gourmet-style food has earned a loyal following.

"Working with and contributing to United for D.C. is a natural fit for Chipotle," said Judy Kadylak, regional marketing manager for Chipotle. "Anytime we can partner with an organization like United for D.C., with their connection to the Washington, D.C. community, we're happy to help."
