Reserves: Chivas USA 3, San Diego Gauchos 0

CHULA VISTA, Calif. - The Chivas USA Reserves recorded a 3-0 victory over amateur side San Diego Gauchos of the Premier Development League Wednesday night in an exhibition match held at the campus of Southwestern College in this San Diego County city.


In front of more than 300 spectators, midfielder Francisco Mendoza scored two first-half goals to give Chivas USA a 2-0 lead going into halftime, while forward Jesús Flores, who is currently on trial with Chivas USA, put the stamp on the 3-0 win with a goal in the 75th minute.


A portion of the proceeds from tonight's game will be donated to the Nicole Megaloudis Foundation, a charitable organization that helps athletes complete their university studies, established in memory of the daughter of Thomas Rongen and Gail Megaloudis. Mendoza runs onto a Matt Taylor through ball and fires a low, left-footed shot to beat goalkeeper Tim Edwards from 6 yards.


0-2 (36'):

Arturo Torres sends in a cross from the right flank, and Mendoza strikes a left-footed volley from 10 yards that lands far post, upper corner.


0-3 (75'):

Flores volleys a Matt Taylor cross, beating Edwards low to the far post.
