Indeed the players have taken advantage to excel in their game. Rookie Chad Barrett was able to come on as a late sub in a 2-1 win over the San Jose Earthquakes in the Fire's home opener in April, contributing an assist on the winning goal. He attributes his first team success to the time he's spent on the Fire Reserves.


"The Reserves helped to give me some confidence," Barrett explained. "I didn't know what to expect when we first started these Reserve games, but as you can see it helps prepare you for the first team. We each need to pick up our games, so I think we come out here with the attitude that we're not just going to play, but we're going to win every Reserve game."
