New era opens at Pizza Hut Park

FC Dallas played before an overflow crowd at the opener of Pizza Hut Park.

This past Saturday night, the gates to Pizza Hut Park opened for the first time and introduced many new fans to live professional soccer. Amid thunderstorms, professional soccer has rumbled into North Texas with a flurry. FC Dallas built a quick 2-0 lead in the first half to the excitement and pleasure of an overflow crowd of 16,752. While the game ended in a 2-2 draw, there was no doubt that most of the new fan base left Pizza Hut Park in amazement. Fans were in amazement of the stadium; in amazement of watching professional soccer in a soccer specific stadium; in amazement of the two massive video screens located almost at field level in the northern corners of the stadium; and in amazement that everything they've read over the past year has actually materialized.

If you made it out to the match last Saturday, you know what we're talking about. If you haven't made it out to see FC Dallas play in Pizza Hut Park, you're missing something truly special and fantastic in North Texas.

"Unbelievable. That's all I can say ... it's truly unbelievable," said Casey from McKinney.

Added Henry from Coppell: "This is night and day compared to the Cotton Bowl. Fans will truly be able to see the excitement of the game in this stadium that the Cotton Bowl couldn't provide."

The next match at Pizza Hut Park is this Saturday, Aug. 13 when FC Dallas will take on Eastern Conference stalwart New England Revolution. Game time is 7:30 p.m. CT and ticket prices range from $10-$40. Great seats in all price ranges are available along with 5-, 6- and 11-game season ticket mini-plans.
