Namoff undergoes successful hernia surgery

WASHINGTON - D.C. United announced today news that Bryan Namoff has had two successful hernia surgeries this week in Munich, Germany. Namoff, who was diagnosed with iguinal hernias, underwent procedures on both the left and right abdominal walls. Dr. Ulrike Muschaweck, a specialist who has performed this particular surgery on more than 1,000 professional soccer players worldwide, performed the surgeries on July 7 and 8. Namoff is expected to return to play in approximately two-to-three weeks.

"We're pleased that Bryan's surgery went so well," said United Technical Director, Dave Kasper. "We look forward to having him back in the lineup."

Namoff is in his fifth season with the Black-and-Red. The 26-year old played a vital role in United's 2004 MLS Cup Championship, as he started 27 of 30 games last year during the regular season and started in all four playoff games. For his career, Namoff has played in 80 games (65 starts), played a total of 5,911 minutes and notched 10 assists. In 2005, he has been limited to five appearances (3 starts) due to injuries.
