COLORADO RAPIDS HEAD COACH TIM HANKINSON
On using Mark Chung and Rey Angel Martinez in their first game back from injury:
"We did not expect to have to go to one of them early. So you hate to use subs early, but Seth we knew could play over a longer period of time. Chung came in and started warming up and we just tried to get to half time and make the change then. It was great to see that he had good energy for 45 minutes, that's promising. Rey is not a known player, he was coming off a broken toe, but I felt that maybe with it being just 20 minutes that he could surprise the defense."
On how important it is to get people back from injury before the crowded portion of the schedule:
"The disappointment is when we get one guy back we lose another. Powell is probably out for a number of weeks now with a pull, and Sullivan has a stress fracture to his tibia. So just when you get one or two back you lose another. So hopefully health will eventually turn our way as we wind the season down and head towards a run."
On how the team will handle the currently crowded schedule:
"It gets bad when you don't get a chance to regenerate, because you subject yourselves to more possible injuries. But it is the schedule, and every team goes through these stretches. Fortunately, San Jose played tonight in the Open Cup so they've had a match under their belt. But you also get into a little bit of a rhythm, I thought that our tempo of play tonight, and our possession game, and moving the ball around the field looked very much in sync. So now we have to recover, and we will see what legs we have got to use on Saturday."
COLORADO RAPIDS MIDFIELDER MARK CHUNG
On returning from injury:
"It feels great to play again and to not be injured and just watching these guys play. It's upsetting and frustrating when I am watching, when I just love to play. I just wanted to get through today's game. I didn't take any shots I was a little scared to do that. It feels good to come back."
On the one header:
"I was so close I was just trying to make contact with the ball. I should have never gone straight to him."
COLORADO RAPIDS GOALKEEPER JOE CANNON
On his first half save on Carlos Ruiz:
"To be honest I saw him coming through and I just wanted to come out and take his angle, and I thought he was going to go near post. So I went down to my right, and after he saw me down he just tried to chip it and he just wasn't able to get it underneath. I think it hit me in the hip. In hindsight I think that was really their only really clear cut chance of the game. I think it was kind of a lucky save, but we'll take it."
On playing to a 0-0 draw:
"It's frustrating because we know that at the end of the year, if we are sitting watching the playoffs that it's going to come down to these points. But I have faith, we have good players up top, I think it's going to come. With Chung out there it started gelling a little bit, and the chances come. I'd rather have the goals come, but I wish it for the guys for themselves, because I know that they are frustrated up top. And they deserve it they have been working hard and they need to get on the end of that so that they start feeling confident, I think that is the most important for us right now."
COLORADO RAPIDS MIDFIELDER KYLE BECKERMAN
On the way the Rapids were able to control possession:
"We were really moving a lot better tonight, and we weren't giving the ball away cheaply. It seemed that we were moving off the ball and guys were open, so we always found somebody's feet. And after awhile they just decided to drop off. "
On getting Chung and Martinez back from injury:
"We're going to need every guy we have. Whenever we can have Chung on the field it is a big plus for our team, same with Rey, he brings another dynamic to our team. When these guys are back it will definitely help us in this long run of games that we have coming up."
LOS ANGELES GALAXY HEAD COACH SIGI SCHMID
On the game:
"It was just one of those games. Usually, the altitude does not impact us, but today it did. That being said, we are still pleased to come out of here with a zero-zero tie."
On what he expected from Colorado:
"We expected them to push forward more than they did on Sat. We also thought that it would give us chances to counter attack. It did in the first half, however, we didn't do as well as we could have to finish those chances."
On insertion of Moreno and Ngwenya in the second half:
"We were trying to get some energy on the field ... Joe's (Ngwenya) speed out there gave them some problems and (Alejandro) Moreno did well too. The reason for the substitutions was that (Ned) Grabavoy was cramping up and I think the altitude affected (Andreas) Herzog a little bit."
LOS ANGELES GALAXY DEFENDER TYRONE MARSHALL
On the game:
"It was a scrappy game. We had some good chances especially in the first half, but most importantly we held another opponent to zero in the back. I hope that we can build on this performance for Saturday."
On defending against Colorado's John Spencer:
"As usual, Colorado is always a tough opponent, especially when they play (John) Spencer up top. He is a monster to control, but I thought that we did a good job containing him tonight."
LOS ANGELES GALAXY GOALKEEPER KEVIN HARTMAN
On the game:
"I thought that everybody gave a good effort. It was difficult to play here with the altitude, but we played well and got a point heading into the match in D.C. on Saturday."
"We weathered the storm late, but we had already had some good chances especially in the first half. I really don't think that we let one get away. All in all, it was a good effort."
