D.C. United waive midfielder Lawson

WASHINGTON, D.C. - D.C. United announced today Midfielder Tim Lawson has been waived. Lawson joined D.C. United in August of 2004 as a replacement for injured forward Thiago Martins. His sole appearance for the Black-and-Red came in an international friendly against C.D. Municipal on September 29.


"We have enjoyed working with Tim and we wish him the best of luck in the future," said United Technical Director Dave Kasper.


Lawson, 29, made his first professional home in Germany, accumulating 118 appearances (98 starts) in his five-year career with SV Elversberg of the Regionalliga Sud. He appeared 19 times (eight starts) during his senior year at Washington University in 1998. Two of his five goals were game-winners and he added nine assists, the fifth-highest single season total all-time for the Huskies.
