Chivas USA inaugurate Chivas USA Futbol Academy in San Bernardino

Chivas USA inaugurated its newest Chivas USA Futbol Academy yesterday at the San Bernardino Soccer Complex in San Bernardino, California. The San Bernardino Academy will be the professional team's second soccer academy, the first inaugurated in June of last year at The Home Depot Center in Carson, California. Chivas USA midfielder Jesús Ochoa and Chivas USA defender Brian Dunseth, both Inland Empire natives, were on hand and participated in the Academy's first training session.


The Chivas USA Futbol Academy in San Bernardino will hold training sessions two times a week and will be conducted and coordinated by members of Chivas USA's coaching staff, including Director of Football Dennis te Kloese, Academy Director and ex-Chivas de Guadalajara player Samuel Bernabé, and coaches Miguel Ramos, Javier Domínguez and Walter García. Chivas USA plans to expand its football education and player development programs throughout Southern California in the very near future.


Samuel Bernabé, played for Club Deportivo Guadalajara from 1974 to 1980 and with Potosino of the Mexican First Division from 1980 to 1981. Following his career as a player, Bernabé spent three years coaching Club Ayotlan Jalisco from 1984 to 1986 in both the Mexican Third and Second Divisions.
