Burn tops Hispanic all-star team 4-0

The Dallas Burn got a pair of goals from forward Toni Nhleko in a 4-0 victory over a team of Hispanic all-stars Sunday afternoon at Old Panther Field in Duncanville. The match was a direct result of a meeting that was held earlier this year between Burn President and General Manager Greg Elliott and a number of Latin soccer league presidents.

The Burn struck early in the match on a clinical free kick by Oscar Pareja. In just the eighth minute, the Burn was awarded a direct kick just outside the 18-yard box. Pareja sent a laser by the wall into the upper-left corner for a 1-0 lead. The Burn doubled the lead in the closing moments of the first half with Nhleko striking for his first. Guest player Jamie Watson sprung Nhleko in the box with a through ball with Nhleko calmly lofting the ball into the lower right corner over the charging keeper.

The Burn had a chance to put the game away early in the second half as Watson was taken down in the box. Nhleko, however, put the penalty kick off of the crossbar. Dallas did finally put the match away on goals by Nhleko and Ty Maurin in the final 20 minutes of the half.
