American Idol star to perform national anthem Saturday

Joshua Gracin, the popular American Idol contestant, is slated to perform the national anthem and sign autographs Saturday at the MetroStars vs. Fire match.


Gracin, 23, was one of the 10 finalists in the popular American Idol series during the second season. A fan favorite, Gracin went on to finish fourth in the contest. Since the Idol contest Gracin has established a flourishing singing career. His newest single "I Want to Live" is at #8 in the R&R Country singles chart. His first CD sold over 57,000 copies in its first week, making it the second highest debut by a male country artist in the history of Soundscan. Gracin was recently featured in People magazine.


In addition to his successful music career, Gracin also has been an active U.S. Marine since September of 2000. He completes his term of duty on September 17.


Gracin will be available for autographs after the game. Specific details to the whereabouts of the autograph session will be announced during the game.


The MetroStars and Chicago match will kick off at 7:30 p.m. If you're looking to catch Gracin's performance of the national anthem, plan on being in your seats by 7:20 p.m.
