Quintana is a tall and physical central defender who is capable of contributing in both phases of play. The 21-year-old has vast experience despite his young age.

OUTSIDE MLS: Quintana joins San Jose from Uruguayan power Peñarol. During the 2017 season, Quintana tallied three goals and two assists in 29 appearances across all competitions, while helping his side win the championship with a 26-3-8 regular-season record and consecutive postseason wins against second-place Defensor Sporting. Peñarol possessed the league’s most stifling defense, allowing just 26 goals in 37 games (.70 goals per game), nine fewer than any other team. In addition to his success domestically during the season, Quintana also made three appearances for Peñarol during the 2017 Copa Libertadores, the most prestigious club competition in South American football. He also tallied an assist in the competition against Palmeiras, champions of Brazil’s top-flight in 2016.
