Ecuadorian midfielder Oswaldo Minda returns to Chivas USA for his third season in Major League Soccer. Minda was acquired in December of 2011 from Sociedad Deportivo Quito just days after being crowned champions of Ecuador’s top circuit, Serie A.
Since his acquisition, Minda has been a strong presence in the midfield for the Red-and-White, playing in 16 games (15 starts) in the 2013 season despite battling through injuries. The holding midfielder has also tallied a pair of goals in his first two MLS seasons with the Rojiblancos while recording 38 games played.
Originally from Pasaje, Ecuador, Minda played with Sociedad Deportivo Quito beginning in 2008. He appeared in 85 matches, scoring 11 goals for the five-time champion. He started his professional career in 2000 with one of Quito’s most prominent teams, Sociedad Deportivo Aucas, and has also played for Deportivo Cuenca (2006) and Emelec (2007). At the international level, Minda has recorded 15 caps for Ecuador’s National Team and will look to secure a spot with La Tri in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
