Career Summary

Option declined following 2016 season.

As reliable as they come, Nathan Sturgus has been a solid journeyman midfielder in his lengthy MLS career. He’s racked up more than 10,000 minutes in a decade in the league with seven different clubs. He was with two teams in two different tours of duty, racking up more than 1,000 minutes in four separate seasons. Sturgis is a technically accomplished player with a strong lineage of serving capably as a either a holding midfielder or of the more box-to-box variety.

INTERNATIONAL: Sturgis is one of the rare Americans to play in two U20 World Cups: once in 2005 and again in 2007. Sturgis narrowly missed out on the 2008 Olympics through injury and has not appeared for the senior team.

COLLEGE: Sturgis spent two seasons at Clemson, guiding the Tigers to the College Cup in 2005 behind two goals and seven assists. That year he earned ACC Defensive Player of the Year honors before leaping at a Generation adidas contract.
