Matúš Kmeť

The 24-year-old Slovak defender previously played for AS Trenčín of Slovakia’s top division. Since joining the club in 2020, Kmeť made 96 game appearances across all competitions, providing 27 assists and scoring six goals during his time with the club.

Following his time with AS Trenčín, Kmeť was a member of his hometown club, MFK Ružomberok, from 2016-2020. During the four seasons with his hometown club, he made 63 game appearances between both Ružomberok’s senior and second teams, scoring eight goals and providing four assists across all competitions.

Kmeť primarily played with MNUFC2, Minnesota United’s MLS Next Pro team since joining the squad mid-summer, making a total of three game appearances and starting every match with the Twos.

Internationally, Kmeť has made appearances with U17, U18, U19, U20, and U21 squads where he made 29 game appearances and scored three goals across all international call-ups with Slovakia’s youth sides. Kmeť recently earned a preliminary call-up with Slovakia’s Senior National Team ahead of the UEFA Euro 2024 Championship.
