Career Summary

Midfielder Keon Daniel signed with the Union on March 18, 2011 after a successful preseason trial. Daniel joined Philadelphia from the Puerto Rico Islanders of the North American Soccer League.

Daniel first turned pro in August 2006 with United Petrotrin of the TT Pro League, the top division in his native Trinidad and Tobago, following a training stint with English Premier League club Manchester United. Two years later, the T&T international trialed with EPL club West Ham United, but instead joined TT Pro League side Caledonia AIA in May of 2009. The 24-year-old then joined the Islanders in June of 2010, scoring two goals and adding two assists in 16 appearances last season to help lead the club to a League Championship as an eighth seeded team in the playoffs. 

Daniel has had a distinguished international career since debuting in January 2008 at the age of 21, with 51 caps and nine goals. He led the Soca Warriors with four goals during 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying, the same number as MLS stars Landon Donovan, Brian Ching and Álvaro Saborío. 

2013: Played in 24 games starting in 20, logging 1991 minutes. He registered one assist against Kansas City on March 12, 2013.

2012: Keon emerged as a play making midfielder and an asset on free kicks.  He played in 22 games and started 17 totaling 1517 minutes.  He scored his only goal of the season on June 31 in a 2-1 loss in Houston.  He notched the game winning assist on October 6 against the Revolution when his corner connected with Jack McInerney’s head to give the Union a 1-0 win.  Keon played for Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean Cup Qualifying scoring a hat-trick against French Guiana on October 14.

2011: Saw action in 18 games for the Union, starting in nine…Took seven shots…Netted first career MLS goal off of a header in 1-1 tie against Real Salt Lake (6/11)…Earned first MLS career assist in 3-0 win at New England (7/17)…Notched second assist of the season on a Veljko Paunovic goal in a 2-1 loss at Columbus (8/20)…Saw limited action after Columbus game due to Trinidad & Tobago national team duty…Played in reserve league matches against D.C. United (5/15/11), at Toronto FC (5/28), at D.C. United (7/3) and at NY (8/15).

2010: Played with the Puerto Rico Islanders of the USSF Division 2 Pro League… Scored two goals and had two assists in 16 appearances… Helped team win the USSF Division 2 Pro League Championship as an eight seed in the playoffs.

YOUTH: Attended Signal Hill Secondary School in his native Tobago, later attending St. Calir Coaching School.

INTERNATIONAL: Has 51 caps and nine goals for Trinidad and Tobago… Made his debut in 2007 and scored his first senior international goal against Guyana in January 2008 on free kick… Second goal was scored against El Salvador in March 2008 also on a free kick… Competed with Trinidad in the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup… Also competed in the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification for Trinidad…Saw action in five games during World Cup Qualifying in 2011…Scored a goal in a 2-0 win over Barbados (9/6).
