Igboananike largely did not live up to his Designated Player billing in his first season in Chicago, scoring seven goals and tallying three assists in 31 games in the club’s miserable 2015 season. He had four goals and an assist over 18 games before being traded to D.C. A fast forward who mostly played on the wing in 2015, Igboananike will look to bring more pace to a D.C. team that has been amassing attacking talent in July 2016.
OUTSIDE MLS: The Nigerian attacker spent the entirety of his pro career in Sweden prior to moving to Chicago. He got his start in 2007, when he signed on New Year’s Day with Djugardens IF. He moved to Vasalunds IF in the summer of 2008, scoring 30 goals in 51 appearances for the second-division club before returning to Djurgardens on January 1, 2010.
He spent three seasons with Djurgardens before moving to fellow Swedish first-division club AIK in January 2013, scoring 19 goals and registering five assists in league play in his two seasons before moving to Chicago.
