MLS CAREER

A well-traveled, journeyman defender, James Riley came into Colorado’s preseason camp unsigned and earned a roster spot on his sixth MLS team in a 10-year career. Heading into the 2015 campaign, Riley has made 235 MLS appearances (214 starts) and logged 19,415 minutes with New England, San Jose, Seattle, Chivas USA and LA. Started 83 games in three seasons with Seattle. In his first three years in the league (2005-2007), started 54 games for the New England Revolution.

2014

  • Played briefly at LA Galaxy last year (only four appearances, with three starts) but in the previous eight seasons never failed to start less than 20 games each year.

2013

  • Played in 21 games (19) starts in his only season with D.C. United.
