Career Summary

2014: Appeared in 11 games, starting three and logging a total of 343 minutes in first season with Union since 2010. He scored his lone goal of season on July 16 against New York Red Bulls in a 3-1 victory.

2011-2013: Played the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons with the Melbourne Heat, where he captained the team and was voted the Co-Player of the Year by the club's supporters in 2011-12. Appeared in 38 league games over the two seasons, and scored three goals.

2011: Re-signed with D.C. United in February after his rights were traded from New England, who had selected Fred in Stage 2 of the 2010 MLS Re-Entry Draft. Fred made 17 appearances for D.C. United, including five starts, and contributed one assist before leaving MLS to join Melbourne Heart in Australia during the summer transfer window.

2010: Traded from D.C. United to the Philadelphia Union on Jan. 13 for a first-round SuperDraft pick and allocation money. While a member of the Union, Fred played in 25 games (24 starts), totaling 1,913 minutes and contributing four goals and one assist.

2009: Played in 23 league matches (17 starts) for D.C. United during the 2009 campaign, notching two goals and four assists. Fred also picked up three goals and two assists in other competitions, including a game-winner against FC Dallas in a U.S. Open Cup play-in game on April 22. In all competitions, Fred played 30 matches (23 starts) and registered five goals.

2008: Was limited by injury to 23 games (20 starts). Totaled two goals and four assists in 1,690 minutes played in league games and added another two goals and two assists in other competitions, including the game-winner in the team's 2-1 U.S. Open Cup final win over the Charleston Battery on Sept. 3. In all competitions, Fred played in 37 games (31 starts), notching a total of four goals and seven assists.

2007: Signed with DC United on March 1 and developed into one of the biggest midfield threats in the league. Playing primarily as a left midfielder, tallied seven goals and eight assists in 26 games (23 starts). Named as MLS Player of the Week for Week 26 after notching a goal and an assist in United's 4-1 win over Toronto on Sept. 29. His eight assists were second on the team, trailing only Christian Gomez (9).

2006: Fred started each of the 20 games he saw time in as a member of Melbourne Victory in the Australian A-League. He scored four goals and dealt out nine assists as Melbourne put together a 14-3-4 record, the best mark in the league. Fred had an outstanding game in the A-League Grand Final, delivering the Victory their first championship with four assists.

Other: Fred spent 10 seasons at leading Brazilian side América-MG, where he scored 20 goals in 80 appearances playing alongside Arsenal superstar Giberto Silva. Fred also played in the first division of the state championship with his hometown side, Guarani Minas Gerais, where he tied as second top scorer.
