Essaid Belkalem is one of the few ’’local’’ players that made the Algerian National Team while playing for emblematic club JS Kabylie. He is your typical stopper that sometimes gets sucked into committing unnecessary fouls.

ALGERIAN NATIONAL TEAM

Having risen through the Algerian national team's youth ranks, he is rewarded with a senior team call-up for the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

CLUB CAREER

After playing all of his youth career with JS Kabylie in Algeria, his stock shot up when he was spotted by national team head coach, Vahid Halilhodzic. He signed a five-year deal with Spanish side Granada during the summer of 2013 and was sent on-loan to English Championship club, Watford. Although he struggled for playing time, he is very much part of Algeria’s depth at the centerback position.
