Real Name: Eric Gehrig
HT: 6' 1" WT: 160
Age: 33 (12/25/1987)
Birthplace: Harvey, IL

Option declined following 2016 season.

Now entering his sixth year in MLS, Gehrig is one of the most experienced players on the Fire roster. A Chicago-area native, Gehrig was a regular for the Fire in 2015, appearing in 25 league matches – all starts – at center back before being shut down in September due to a stress fracture. He continued to work his way back from injury in the 2016 preseason – he’ll have more competition for minutes once he does make it all the way back, as he’ll have to battle new acquisitions Johan Kappelhof and Joao Meira for playing time.

COLLEGE: Starred for the Loyola University Chicago Ramblers, scoring 10 goals and recording 10 assists in 78 appearances from 2006-2009. Was named to the Horizon League first-team in his final three seasons at Loyola.

NOTES: Grew up in the Chicagoland area in Schererville, Indiana … Went undrafted in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft, and didn’t stick in a preseason trial with Kansas City … Was noticed by Columbus at a 2010 camp in Omaha, Nebraska, and signed with Crew SC ahead of the 2011 season.
