PRIOR TO MLS: Has spent the last 14 seasons playing in Europe … began his soccer career with Paris St. Germain’s youth teams in 1994, signing with the senior club in 1996 … he made 48 league appearances in two seasons with PSG, and also appeared in UEFA Champions League matches with the French Cup and French League Cup Champions in 1998 … transferred to Newcastle United in 1999, and made 55 appearances while scoring three goals before transferring back to his native club, PSG … after two-and-a-half seasons in Paris, was loaned to Leeds United for the 2003-04 season … two seasons at Espanyol led to 42 appearances and the 2006 Copa del Rey title … he moved to his last club, Olympiacos, in 2006, and helped the team win three Super League titles, two Greek Cups and the Greek Super Cup and advance to the knock-out stages of the 2007-08 UEFA Champions League and the 2008-09 UEFA Cup … he made 60 league appearances for the Greek power.
