Option declined following 2016 season.
Darwin Jones has been a lightning strike of a forward for the duration of his career. The Seattle-area native came up playing youth soccer in the area, and he joined the Sounders’ academy in 2010 to pave his way to an eventual Homegrown contract five years later. Jones relies on a heady combination of speed and on-ball technical ability that allows him to thrive in tight spaces around the box. In one-on-one situations, a heads-up assignment on Jones isn’t a particularly comfortable place to be.
COLLEGE: After a standout season at Seattle-area Highline College, Jones joined the University of Washington in 2013 and spent two seasons carving through the Pac-12. He ultimately made 37 appearances for the Huskies, scored 15 goals and helped guide Washington to a Pac-12 title in 2013.
